The Fight for 4th is on!

Liverpool v Arsenal Saturday 3rd March 2012 12.45pm Sky Sports HD2

A classic Premier League encounter, underpinned by a subtext of increasing European significance. Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez play the lead protagonists in a cast of high calibre, staged in one of football’s most atmospheric arenas.

Liverpool, fresh from their Carling Cup success, host an Arsenal side enjoying a Premier League revival in Saturday’s lunchtime kick off, live on Sky Sports HD2.

Both teams enter the game with high spirits. Liverpool’s epic Wembley victory saw the Reds register their first piece of silverware since 2006, whilst Arsenal will take great pride in Sunday’s historic comeback against their North London rivals.

With the passion and pageantry of last weekend now over, the lucrative fight for 4th is firmly back on the agenda and three points for either side on Saturday could prove decisive come May.

Arsenal, currently in pole position for a Champions League berth and buoyed by their recent league form, will travel north confident they can extend this run against the Carling Cup champions. Neither can afford to drop points, but for Liverpool, anything less than maximum could derail their Champions League aspirations, irreversibly. However, Dalglish’s men may take a slight psychological advantage into Saturday, having won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in August.

With Arsenal seemingly scoring and leaking goals at will and Liverpool recently hitting Brighton for six; goals can – and should – be expected.

Coverage starts at 12.00pm Sky Sports HD2
